Beneficiaries' Inspiring Journeys

Buthayna
Buthayna, a 25-year-old young woman with Down syndrome, has achieved inspiring accomplishments since joining the Annahda Rehabilitation Center in Ramallah in 2011. Her journey began with learning simple tasks, but her skills soon developed to include sewing and embroidery. Today, she excels in designing products that are showcased in the center's bazaars and sold to an audience that appreciates her creativity. Initially, Buthayna was a shy girl who struggled with communication, but today she is a confident young woman known for her leadership spirit. She actively participates in organizing activities and assisting her peers, playing a key role in the Annahda Scouts’ training and celebrations. Buthayna’s story is not only an example of skill development but also a testament to the power of support and confidence in realizing one's hidden potential, making her a symbol of success and inspiration.

Sami Dar Yusef
Sami Dar Yousef was born in 1969 and joined the Annahda Women's Association at the age of six, where he received the necessary care and attention to develop his skills. Until 2024, Sami worked diligently at the association as a salaried employee, improving his daily skills and making valuable contributions, making him a role model in the community. Sami, who has Down syndrome, is a living example of challenge and determination. He began learning vocational skills at the association, working on assembling wooden toys for children with special needs. Despite the challenges he faced, he proved that disability does not prevent a person from achieving success; rather, it serves as a driving force for excellence and creativity.

George Tannous
George was born in October 1964 in Ramallah, where his life began with a major challenge. His family discovered early on that he was different from other children due to a speech disorder that affected his ability to learn. Despite the difficulties, his family never gave up on their hope for a better life for him. Initially, George faced deprivation from education due to the lack of programs in schools that could support his needs. However, his mother found new hope when she discovered a special education center near their home. Thanks to the family's determination and the support of the center, George began his educational journey.

The center, which is part of the Annahda Women’s Association, was committed to providing free, specialized education for children with disabilities, with the aim of enabling them to learn, work, and live independently.
At the center, George received a comprehensive education that included language skills, mathematics, sports, and social skills training. By the age of fourteen, he joined a pre-vocational program where he learned crafts such as sanding, painting, and other skills. Upon graduation, he started working in the wooden educational toys workshop, where he made toys and earned a salary that helped him achieve financial independence.
In 2008, George entered a new chapter in his life, getting married and starting a family. In 2009, he and his wife had a child, whom they named Subhi, in honor of his grandfather, in keeping with the family tradition of naming the first son after the grandfather.

Abed Al-Rahman Abu Adas
Abed, a 14-year-old student, represents an inspiring success story that highlights the power of will and progress despite challenges. Born with an intellectual disability, Abed did not let this be an obstacle to achieving outstanding accomplishments, thanks to the support from the Annahda Association and his personal determination. Abed’s journey at the association began when he was seven years old, enrolling in the first educational class. Since then, he has received comprehensive care, including the development of his language, arithmetic, and social skills, as well as learning basic self-care.

The support didn’t stop there; it also included extracurricular activities that helped build his personality and boost his self-confidence.
Over time, Abed continued his hard work and moved on to the second educational class, where he continued to develop and build new skills. Abed became known for his great love for the center and his attachment to its various activities, showing his commitment and belief in the support the center provided him. Among the activities he excelled in was his participation in “Circus Palestine,” where he demonstrated remarkable creativity, along with his active role in the association’s Scouts, where he participated in numerous events that enhanced his social interactions.
Abd’s mother has also played a crucial role in his support, ensuring a strong relationship with both the association and his teachers. This collaboration between his family and the center has had a positive impact on Abd’s progress and continued success.
Abd’s story is a living example of what can be achieved with determination and support. It is a testament to the fact that challenges are not obstacles to progress but opportunities to demonstrate inner strength and achieve success. Abd is a symbol of hope and ambition, proving that hard work can turn even the most difficult circumstances into an inspiring success story.
